Half Life

I learned today that the polyunsaturated fat (the bad fat) has a half life of 115 days. Interesting huh? Why is this important to know? It isn't. All it means is that if you have a serving of fries from your favourite fast food joint, it would be in your system for infinity unless of course your energy system burned it off (which it would, so you will not be carrying it infinitely) Thanks to Dan for correcting me on my math.
Here is the formula for you nerdy people out there.

M=c(1/2)^t/h

But never mind the technical stuff. All you need to take away from this lesson class, is that polyunsaturated fat is bad...... read food labels, it's in more than you think. But you already knew that right?

Well, technically, if it's an actual half-life, it wouldn't be gone after 230 days. Half-life is defined as the time it takes for a (regularly radioactive) material to reduce to half of it's original mass. So in 230 days it would be 25% of it's original mass. The first 115 days would bring it down to 50%, half. The next 115 days would bring it down to half that again, so 25% original mass. Another 115 days would bring us to 12.5% original mass. Following this logic, it would never bee 100% gone from your system.
Sure makes me want to never eat fries again. Apparently I am still eating the first order of fries ever.
Aren't you glad, though, that you can take comfort in the fact that no matter how many nerdy things you do, you will never, EVER be as nerdy as your younger brother?

That also reminds me of the time that Mr Holmes, who was trying to show the class what an idiot I was, asked me to define the term half-life. I responded "Half life is the time it takes for a radioactive material to reduce to half of it's original mass." Stunning both Mr Homes, and the class.
Best day of my life.

lent point about the energy system in the body. The half life equation assumes a stable environment, but since your body is constantly using what you put into it, there are other factors at work.
Great post with a great message. important to know! Thanks, Dude!

Ok, I am so lost right now... Do you know that red meat stays in your system for eons? I know your a protein freak, but red meat is just not groovy Dude. You should switch to Bison, you can get Bison burgers at Zehrs or Superstore. Kevin and Hayden really like them and they actually stay relatively the same size coming off the grill as before they went on. Bison is much more easily digested too. Now, you have some material to research your next informative blog post.
